Suzani

Suzani cushions are like decorative paintings crafted in silk. They often come with a symmetrical and repetitive pattern. Suzani is a type of embroidered and decorative tribal textile that is produced slowly by hand. The word suzani derives from the Persian word suzan which means needle. Suzani textiles have a long tradition in Central Asia, where the skill of embroidery has been taught by grandmothers to mothers and daughters. The most traditional embroidery motifs are the sun and the moon, flowers, leaves, vines, fruits, and occasionally fish and birds.
